DENVER, CO — (Marketwire) — 12/14/12 — Officials from the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel announced that the hotel is partnering with Sprint to convert the meeting and public space cellular distributed antenna system from a single-carrier system to a multi-carrier system. The system is being installed by local contractor BTS Wireless on behalf of Sprint-s Custom Network Solutions, utilizing Solid Technologies hardware.
“The Sheraton Denver Downtown is Colorado-s largest hotel,” states Maria Maxwell, the hotel-s Director of Sales & Marketing. “Being connected is extremely important to meeting planners, guests and associates in a hotel of this size.”
“This technology upgrade is huge!” states Brandon Taugner, the hotel-s Director of Information Technology. He continued that the hotel currently has a massive cellular distributed antenna system consisting of a signal source, a head-end room, bi-directional amplifiers, as well as numerous remote hubs and omni-directional antennas; all of which are interconnected by thousands of feet of copper, coaxial and fiber optic cabling. Without this new in-building antenna system, it is difficult to use cell phones and other mobile devices in many public space areas of the hotel as signals from towers in the area are not able to penetrate the space. He continued that in layman-s terms, guests can now connect anywhere within the hotel, from guestrooms, meeting space or from the hotel-s various bars and restaurants including 16Mix Cocktail Lounge, 15/Fifty Restaurant, Peet-s Tea & Coffee, the Yard House or Katie Mullen-s Irish Pub and Restaurant.
“This conversion of the distributed antenna system will bring expanded multi-carrier cellular coverage to guests in areas which previously did not have seamless cellular coverage,” states Chuck Schuringa, the Hotel Manager. “We can now offer a better guest experience through more reliable cellular coverage, keeping our guests connected to what matters most to them while they are on the road.”
