S4M’s studio production tool supports NDR TV control rooms
German public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) has implemented ClipJOCKEY. The studio production tool, designed by S4M – Solutions for Media, covers all workflows carried out in a TV broadcaster’s control room. In the future, ClipJOCKEY is supposed to be employed in every NDR TV control room in Hamburg.
ClipJOCKEY is a stand-alone solution for ingest and playout. It supports daily processes in the control rooms of TV broadcasters or (post)production companies and enables file-based workflows. For instance, current formats that have been planned with a newsroom system (NRCS) are carried out tapeless. Likewise, the pre-production of magazines may be accomplished without tapes. Especially to that end, S4M has developed the “add-on mode” offering the same comfort that was hitherto only possible in a tape-based context. In doing so, a “multi-channel link feature” supports key-fill applications and multi camera productions.
At NDR in Hamburg ClipJOCKEY covers the complete workflows associated with program creation in TV control rooms, also comprising the processes that so far could only be accomplished via tape. Michael Tißen, project manager for integrated production at NDR television: “With ClipJOCKEY we can virtually do without tapes in the studio. At the same time, it is extremely important that our integrated production environment seamlessly cooperates with the processes in the control rooms when it comes to news and magazine production.” ClipJOCKEY fulfils this requirement: S4M’s studio production tool smoothly cooperates with NDR’s new VPMS-based integrated production system. VPMS stands for S4M’s video production management system and supports the professional management of digital video assets – from acquisition through versatile production schemes to playout, distribution and archive.
In the future, every NDR control room in Hamburg is supposed to employ ClipJOCKEY.
