TORONTO, ONTARIO — (Marketwire) — 04/30/12 — (TSX VENTURE: STC), a leading provider of hardware and software components that enable or enhance IP Communications Systems for both voice and data, today announced the first commercial shipment of the two newest models in its commenced April 20, 2012. The new and provide the core feature set supported throughout the highly-regarded Vega Series of gateways scaled for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMB). These appliances which support one or two spans of digital telephony (PRI/T1/E1), are sized to match with the TDM-to-IP connectivity needs of smaller enterprises, priced to fit within SMB budgets, and packed with enterprise-class communications features that will give these smaller businesses a competitive edge.
“We are excited to be among the first to receive these versatile new Vega Series units from Sangoma as we have seen quite a bit of demand from SMB customers for the types of features that these models make available,” said Darren Garland, managing director of ProVu, A UK-based VoIP technology provider. “Businesses of every size need the enterprise-class capabilities, including local survivability and redundancy to protect mission-critical communication channels, offered in these smaller models of the Vega Series. Plus, the price positioning of the Vega 100 and Vega 200 is perfect for the SMB market.”
Higher density models in the Vega Appliance Series have been successfully deployed by service providers as customer premise devices terminating SIP Trunks and providing PSTN access for IP-PBX platforms for a number of years. The Vega 100 and Vega 200 expand the scope of businesses that can be cost-effectively served using Vega Appliances to include those that experience lower call volume or that require fewer simultaneous SIP sessions. The rack-mountable 1u Vega 100 and 200 chassis deliver up to 30 and 60 simultaneous calls or SIP sessions, respectively. The devices support a broad range of audio codecs, T.38 fax, integrated call routing and dial-plan administration, as well as a variety of maintenance and survivability features that deliver easy-to-use resilience in a system sized for the SMB market.
Bypass configurability of the digital spans enables dual-chassis redundant operation if desired, and an option to connect directly to PSTN trunks for emergency calling is available in the event of an IP network failure. High-performance features such as these not only set the entire Vega series apart from other gateway devices, but the Vega 100 and Vega 200 are the only gateway appliances in the market that offer emergency failover/fallback to the PSTN in devices with the appropriate capacity to effectively address SMB needs.
“We have been quite pleased with the response and the order volume from distribution partners across the world since we announced the availability of these new models in the Vega Series just a few short weeks ago,” said Simon Horton, director of product management for Sangoma. “We shipped more than 100 units on the first day, and anticipate that these new Vega Series models will bolster our distribution partners- ability meet customer demands and expand business opportunities and profitability.”
